THIS YEAR STORM Number 9 BROUGHT ABOUT SERIOUS DAMAGES TO RESIDENTS IN THE CENTRAL REGION & HIGHLANDS, INHABITANTS & ENTERPRISES IN AREAS AFFECTED BY THE STORM FACE MANY DIFFICULTIES IN OVERCOMING THE CONSEQUENCES.
With spirit of deep sympathy-mutual affection, in order to help local areas to overcome the consequences of the storm, for the last days, many organizations and individuals have organized many fundraising events to help compatriots suffering from natural calamities to overcome difficulties for a quick recovery of their normal life. Sharing a deep sympathy with numerous losses suffered by compatriots, Kinh Do has made a donor of VND 300 millions in cash in order to help ease difficulties facing people affected by the storm.
With this donor, Kinh Do in cooperation with the relief group of Tuoi Tre/Youth Newspaper handed the gifts to pupils and compatriots in the Central region. Within the meaningful program of “Vietnamese Consume Vietnamese Products” organized by Tuoi Tre Newspaper, on 17 Oct, representatives of Kinh Do directly came to Duy Phuoc primary school, Kim Dong secondary school, Duy Thanh primary school and Quang Trung high school of Duy Phuoc, Duy Xuyen district- Quang Nam.

These gifts were bought from donors made by Kinh Do’s staff to help children faced with difficulties and gravely affected by the storm to have a chance to attend school again for their study programs. To be able to reach their schools, many pupils were taken by their parents to schools since early morning as it was very far from the homes to schools and the roads were still covered by mud… Only attending here enabled us to understand the eagerness and expectation of pupils when receiving gifts bearing the difficulty-sharing spirit from enterprises and benefactors from all over the country.
On 18 Oct, the relief group of Kinh Do came to 3 hamlets in to Binh Hai commune, Binh Son district, Quang Ngai province to hand over the gifts to primary-school pupils of Van Tuong, An Cuong and Thanh Thuy hamlets, Thanh Thuy, Binh Hai, Binh Son. On the walls of many schools, there are still traces of flood inundation, in some places the flood levels were 3m higher than the altitude of roads and some wall were completely inundated in flood water. On some roads although the thin mud has been removed, it still causes difficulty for traveling of pupils of communes, especially with primary pupils because they are still very small.
According to the statistics, in Quang Nam, torrential rains and floods have killed 5 people, injured 81, inundated 365.000 houses, swept away 1 house, destroyed 61 houses, roofs of over 294 houses and 68 classrooms blown off completely and many teaching materials were destroyed.
